Kids can borrow rods and reels at no charge, live bait is supplied, and a host of dedicated volunteers are on hand.

A variety of warmwater species, including: Sunfish, catfish, carp, perch, rock bass, black crappie and the largemouth and smallmouth bass can be caught.

Directions:  From Highway 401, take Winston Churchill Boulevard down to Derry Road, over to Aquitaine Avenue.  Look for Aquitaine Park.

Kids can borrow rods and reels at no charge, live bait is supplied, there are free hot dogs and drinks and a host of dedicated volunteers are on hand.

Sunfish, brown bullhead catfish, carp, perch, rock bass, black crappie, largemouth bass and northern pikecan be caught.

The  lake and park are situated in the heart of old-downtown Newmarket; easily accessible by taking Yonge Street north to Eagle Street and east to just off Main Street where the entrance is on your right (south) side.

Rods and reels can be borrowed at no charge, live bait is supplied, free hotdogs and drinks are given to the kids and a host of dedicated volunteers are on hand.

Kids can catch a variety of warmwater species, including: Sunfish, catfish, carp, perch, rock bass, black crappie and largemouth or smallmouth bass.  

Directions:  The event takes place on the Pefferlaw River at the mouth of Lake Simcoe.  Follow Highway 48 north to Holmes Point Rd. (just before the river and lights on Hwy 48). Turn left (north) and follow signs to Peninsula Resort, 202 Holmes Point Rd.

A variety of warmwater species, including: Sunfish, catfish, carp, perch, rock bass, black crappie and the occasional largemouth bass can be caught. In partnership with the Pickering Rod and Gun Club, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters -Zone G, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, City of Pickering, Muskies Canada and the MNR Aurora District

Families also learn about the threats of invasive species- like the round goby which is now plentiful here. Staff from MNR and OFAH are on hand to remove these pesky little fish and help spread the word about ways to slow their spread.  

Directions:  From Highway 401, take Brock Road south. Turn right onto Bayly; take Liverpool Road south to Commerce Street turn right (west) to Front Street turn left (south) to Progress Park entrance.
